STUNNING NAMIBIAN PHOTOGRAPHY AT NTB EXHIBITION

7-11 DECEMBER 2009 CTICC

To coincide with the Final Draw in Cape Town the Namibia Tourism Board, is hosting an exhibition, aimed at giving visitors an unforgettable Namibian experience. The anchor feature at the exhibition scheduled for the 7-11^th December 2009, will be photographic works from expert photographers with the knack of capturing the enthralling Namibian, Landscape, people and animals.

• Hans Rack has been involved in photography since the age of 11 years, having followed in his parents footsteps who were both professional photographers. He has had many photographic commissions to photograph game lodges in Southern Africa and much of his photography has been architectural. As a uniquely Namibia Photographer, Hans has won a myriad of awards for his work and his photographs have been published in both local and international magazines. Some of his photographic works appear as part of the permanent display at the National Art gallery of Namibia.

• Tony Figuera wears the hat of Photojournalist, commercial/documentary photographer and gallery owner. His Images and publications span, social work (with UNICEF) as well as Tourism and the Namibian people. Tony has also completed a host of photo documentaries and essays in a variety of newspapers and magazines, from Africa Geographic, Luanda's Talentos, Lisbon's O PUBLICO, Namibia's Insight, Sister Namibia and The Namibian Newspaper, and South Africa's Mail & Guardian, Cape Times and Sunday Times. His latest group collaboration was in March 2009 with some of Namibia's finest artists augmenting their artwork with their thoughts on Namibia's independence.
• Paul Van Schalkwyk discovered his love of photography at a very young age and as the years went by, he founded the first Namibian Film and television production company in 1987 as well as Namibia's leading advertising agency,  Advantage Y&R. His films have been broadcast on National Geographic Channel, Discovery, Animal Planet and many of most of the well known television channels around the globe.  His photographs are also published regularly in local and international magazines. Paul has exhibited successfully as solo artist and jointly with other Namibia artists.  He is the recipient of more than 50 awards for his work as photographer, cinematographer, director and writer. He was one of only nine African artists who were invited to exhibit at the Artiade during the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
• Jean Du Plessis is a multi skilled photographer that has captured an array of subjects, from Fashion and Sport to Parliament and especially landscapes such as the Serengeti and Namibia. Jean worked for the Cape Town newspaper ‘Die Burger' for 30 years, covering all major South African news and political events. His fascination with Namibia dates back to 1986, and since then he has, covered well over 200 000 kilometres to capture Namibia's unique beauty.  Jean's published work include ‘Desertscapes of Namibia' with Struik in 2002 and his latest ‘Namibia a Visual Celebration' in 2007. He is now working on his 3^rd book concentrating on Damaraland and Koakoveld in Namibia.

In addition to these uniquely talented artists the exhibition will take each visitor on a journey through Namibia, affording them the opportunity to appreciate the authentic beauty that is the land of the brave. Visitors will be able to taste Namibia by sampling Namibian meat, an unrivalled variety of game biltong and our internationally acclaimed award winning beer. Coupled with unique arts, crafts, and jewellery, they afford the visitor an opportunity to experience Namibia.
