You might be aware that Southern Africa’s Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) have been identified as one of the Legacy Projects of the 2010 FIFA World Cup for their potential to spread the tourism benefits of hosting the World Cup in Africa through branding and marketing the SADC region as a favourable tourism and investment destination.
To this effect the Tourism Ministers of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, jointly launched a marketing brand for the TFCAs called “Boundless Southern Africa” at the Tourism Indaba in Durban in May 2008. Sweden seeks partnerships with stable democracies in SADC
JOHN GROBLER in STOCKHOLM
Future development cooperation between Namibia and Sweden will increasingly stress "actor-driven development" which Sweden hoped would develop into more equal partnerships with the stable democracies of southern Africa, according to Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Joakim Stymne.
Stymne, speaking on the sidelines of the annual review of development between Sweden and Namibia in Stockholm last week, signalled that economic, rather than political, common cause would in future direct bilateral relations. |
